My views on "Protecting what you make"

It is important to protect what you make but there are a lot of fine lines and loop holes in protecting your content from people who may want to steal it.

People often steal songs or movies so they can have it for themselves with out buying it. This is understandable but it is illegal in most country's, but I don't mind people stealing my content and I don't think people should care either, what they should care about is if they decide to redistribute that content to others, weather its for money or not.

Understandably, the "law enforcers" go after people who redistribute content for money first and people who don't do it for money next. People who only get content for them selves without paying shouldn't be penalized too bad, if they are caught they should only have to pay the price of the song/movie/album instead of other conmen methods like jail time. Also, if you happen to have already bought the song (and have records of it) but lost it and can't find it then you should be able to get the song for free and not be penalized at all.

If you have bought something and you are sharing it to a semi-large group (no more then 30 people) you should be with-in a legal standard, it should only be if someone records it for the viewing of it that it should then become illegal.

But that is just my  opinion.
